Scheduled system restart. This process helps minimize unscheduled downtime and ensure optimal performance. The scheduled time has been selected to minimize user impact. It is recommended that faculty and students remain logged off during this window.
A set of new Sakai features will be available to all users starting in Fall 2017. Here are some of the highlights:
The upgrade is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 25th at 5PM, with the new environment available for use on Monday, August 28th. Sakai will be unavailable during the upgrade window. Any work done in Sakai prior to 8/25 will be retained and brought over with the upgrade.
All of your existing course content will remain unchanged and work completed prior to the upgrade date will be retained.
After being phased down to instructor-only mode for the past two semesters, the following tools (and the content associated with them) will be removed completely in August of 2017, as they are no longer compatible with the version of Sakai we are on.
Please contact an ITS specialist if you have any questions or would like one-on-one support regarding saving or transferring content from these tools.
Come see a Sakai specialist during one of our upcoming workshops, or schedule your own one-on-one session. The full schedule of upcoming trainings and workshops is available at web.uri.edu/its-training/training.
If you're interested in seeing an early version of what the updated Sakai will look like, a test environment is currently available to preview at uri-test.longsight.com* *Please note that this is for preview purposes only. Data cannot be transferred to the production instance of Sakai. Additionally, to conserve space, Resource files and images are not present in the preview environment.
For more information, along with an introduction video to the updated environment, please visit the Sakai Training Page.
A list of known issues will be displayed below, along with the estimated date of resolution (if applicable). If you encounter any unreported issues while working in Sakai, please contact the the Help Desk. Thank you for your assistance in helping to improve the Sakai experience for all users.
